Canadian carbon tax plans

The federal Green Party (of which I am a member) has just announced their plan for a national carbon tax, along with a gas tax, while Dion has provided more details on the Liberals’ plan.
Meanwhile, the Conservatives are still firmly entrenched in the “sit on our asses and do nothing” camp, calling the Liberal’s plan a “revenue grab”. Thank God we have the Conservatives to
- give us GST cuts that pretty much every economist in Canada agrees are useless and cost us dearly in terms of providing for health care and education
- propose spending $490B on the Canadian military over the next 20 years (if there won’t be a “revenue grab” associated with that, there will surely be more cuts to social services)
- come up with GHG reduction plans that will have a fraction of their intended effects (which are already subpar)
